ALAMO FEDERAL EXECUTIVE BOARD LAUNCHES
Annual “Feds Feed Families” Food Drive

The Alamo Federal Executive Board (AFEB) reaches out to all San Antonio federal agencies to join forces to support the annual “Feds Feed Families” food drive campaign, which runs from June 1st through August 31.

Federal employees will see marked bins in each of their buildings, where they can donate non-perishable food and daily-hygiene items.  Our goal in San Antonio is to donate 5 lbs per federal employee, i.e., a federal agency with 300 people would try to donate 1,500 lbs of food.

The food drive is coordinated by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and the Chief Human Capital Council to encourage federal employees to help supplement food banks across the country.

The AFEB, whose mission is “To create value to the public by fostering communication, coordination and collaboration with Federal, state and local government agencies”, is proud to partner with the San Antonio federal agencies to help support the children and families who are hardest hit by our tough economy.

Food banks across the nation struggle to replace the items people depend on to survive, especially during summer months when donations are traditionally lower.

Past San Antonio federal agency participants include:  Social Security Administration, Small Business Administration, US Geological Survey, DHS, TSA, FBI, National Weather Service and several military organizations from Lackland AFB, Randolph AFB, Port San Antonio and Fort Sam Houston

The most-needed items for donation include:

  • Peanut Butter
  • Cereal
  • Tuna
  • Beans
  • Rice
  • Mac & Cheese
  • Chili
  • Canned Stews
  • Canned Soups
  • Canned Luncheon Meats
  • Full Meals Can/Box
  • Pop Top Food Items

The Feds Feed Families campaign grew out of the Serve America Act that created “United We Serve,” an initiative that urged Americans to contribute to the nation’s economic recovery by helping their communities. Since the Alamo Federal Executive Board serves as the hub for all San Antonio federal agencies, we are the easiest method to reach each agency.

We hope more federal agencies will join us!  San Antonio’s largest employer is the federal government and we have the potential to make a huge difference in the fight against hunger and give back to our San Antonio community!
